STAFF, parents and children at Alcester Infant School are celebrating after receiving a superb Ofsted report - just a few years after being told standards weren't up to scratch, writes Helen Clarke.
In January 1998, the school was put on special measures after a damning Ofsted report which said standards were not satisfactory.
The school had to devise an action plan and in October 1999 it was taken off special measures.
The Moorfield Road school has since gone from strength to strength.
The most recent report praises the school in almost every area, including the quality of teaching, the consideration, care and welfare shown to pupils by teachers, the above-average standards in many subjects, the strong leadership of the headteacher and a well-planned curriculum.
One comment the report did make was that the opportunity for pupils to use information and communication technology in all subjects of the curriculum could be improved.
