TWO popular British adventure stories - Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings - have become American properties. So much so, Warner Brothers ordered Severn Valley Railway to remove Hogwarts Express nameplates from one of their locomotives
I recall that a few weeks ago, a correspondent referred to the fact that very few foreign films were shown in Worcester.
On television, over the Christmas period, I counted 184 films out of which 136 were American, 38 were British and 10 were foreign.
Equally, one will be hard-pushed to find a traditional fish and chip shop on Britain's high Streets.
They have all been squeezed out to the cities' outskirts by American-style beefburger and coca-cola outlets.
If Britain cannot stand alone on its own feet anymore, then I would prefer this country to merge fully into the European Union with a euro for our currency and the English language as the lingua franca for all European nations.
