A BROMSGROVE brother and sister, who took on a mission to raise £2,500 for a charity close to their hearts, have this week put out a heartfelt thank-you to the people who have helped them raise nearly £10,000.

Lizzie and Adam Cross, of Harvington Road, who first appeared in the Advertiser/Messenger last September, have raised close the cash for the Cancer Research Campaign thanks to the support of family, friends and members of the public.

The money was raised as part of Adam's trek to Peru in April where he had to raise £2,500 in sponsorship for the charity to take part.

The 18-year-old decided to do the trek for the Cancer Research Campaign after Lizzie was diagnosed with a kidney tumour in March last year.

The Cross family organised a whole host of fundraising events to raise the money, with the main event being a dance at South Bromsgrove School where Lizzi, who is now 16, is currently doing her A-levels.

There was a raffle and an auction held during the event in December, which raised £4000 towards the final total.

Christine Cross, their mum said she couldn't thank people enough.

She added: "Without all of the support from everyone we wouldn't have been able to raise so much more than we expected. Thank you everyone."
