STEVEN Vile is out of Worcester Rugby Club's all-important clash at Rotherham next Saturday after a hamstring injury.

Vile, who arrived at Sixways in November as cover for Craig Chalmers and Tony Yapp, pulled up in Worcester Warriors' match at Bath on Monday and is likely to be out for at least two weeks.

That will rule the fly-half out of the promotion showdown at Clifton Lane on January 26 and could mean the end of his short career at Worcester.

The 31-year-old signed a short-term deal and is talking about an extension to the contract.

"I think much will depend on the Rotherham result," said Vile. "My agent is talking with the club at the moment and if we win that game then I think Worcester will obviously want me to stay until the end of the season. I'd like to stay because I've enjoyed my time here.

"I'll have a scan on the hamstring today but I don't think it's serious, it's just a slight tear which will mean probably two-three weeks out."
