Bromsgrove Rovers were held to a disappointing 2-2 draw by Stafford Town in the Midland Alliance last night.

Rovers went behind in the 14th minute. Indecisive defending allowed Phillip Skelton to loop a shot over Matt Lowe.

The home team stuttered into action. Kevin Banner shot over the bar and Jason Fardoe cleared off the line from Matt Coppin before Paul Lloyd crossed the ball from the right and Les Palmer headed home from six yards.

Bromsgrove took the lead two minutes into the second half. Jon Ford took a short free-kick from 20 yards and Palmer hit a low shot that 'keeper Peter Atkins could not keep out.

But the visitors equalised five minutes from time, substitute Carl Wallace heading home unmarked at the near post after Ashley Sheridan was allowed to cross from the left.

Both teams had chances to win in the six minutes of injury time. Ian Brown was unlucky to have a goal ruled out for offside for the visitors and then Rovers substitute Sam Bowen blasted high from 12 yards.

Bromsgrove: Lowe, Lloyd, Banner, Brookes, Ford, Frost (Kavanagh 73), Coppin, Beckett, Palmer, Blake (Bowen 67), Derry (Lynch 87).
