A GROUP of residents has scooped more than £1,000 to help improve a Spa neighbourhood.
The Waterside Residents' Association has secured £1,200 from the Severn Waste Environmental Fund.
Cash will help the community, off Worcester Road, improve an area of open space by purchasing new shrubs and a bench.
The estate is nearly 12 years old and boasts around 75 houses. Neighbours set up the association nine years ago.
Member and Droitwich Spa's deputy mayor Cllr Terry Spencer (Con, Droit.Central) said: "We are a very active group and around 95 per cent of Waterside householders have joined.
"Our aim is to keep the area safe and clean.
"Applying for grants and working together help us to achieve this."
The group recently held a Christmas carol service and will soon prepare for its annual clean-up when householders take to the streets to pick up litter.
Cllr Spencer added: "The association is brilliant and I'm delighted our plans for the open space can be put into action."
The Severn Waste fund awards grants to applicants who aim to improve their environment.
A fund spokesman said: "We support the residents in their endeavours to improve their environment through this type of work, particularly when they intend to involve the youth of the community in the work."
