KIDDERMINSTER Harriers ambitious chairman Lionel Newton firmly believes manager Jan Molby has fashioned a side that has a 'serious chance' of reaching the Nationwide League Division Three play-offs following their dramatic upturn in fortunes.

On-form Harriers, with matches in hand after having three games postponed in a month, are in striking distance of the play-off zone after storming to six wins in their last seven league outings.

Optimistic Newton said: "Already five months of our season has gone and as I stated when we started in August, it would be another year of consolidation, but in all fairness to Jan (Molby) and his team they have done us proud.

"If they continue with their form of late we have a serious chance of reaching the play-offs. I think the recent acquisitions have made a huge difference to the balance of the team and I'm certain there is a self belief in themselves to succeed."

Meanwhile, Molby has poured praise on former Bromsgrove Rovers campaigner Dean Bennett who has scored in each of Kidderminster's last seven league matches.

The ex-Liverpool star said: "He's becoming a better player all the time and long may that continue. When we came into the Football League we worked hard with him. I don't think he quite worked as hard with us as maybe he should have done, but of late he's realised he's got a great job and it takes an awful lot of hard work to keep hold of it. He's getting his rewards now."
