Barclays Bank has abandoned plans to move from its offices in Worcester Road, Malvern.

The bank was given planning permission in 1999 to take over 47-51 Church Street - the old Priory Cleaners.

But a bank spokesperson said this week the move was no longer being contemplated. "There are no plans to move at the moment," she said. "The bank in its present site has recently been rebranded with the new logo. If a decision to move was made, customers would be given two months' notice."

The Church Street building is owned by Barclays and is now being renovated with a view to renting it out. Interest was expressed by pub chain J D Wetherspoon but nothing came of it.
