A WARNDON woman cat-napped in her car while a friend took more than 100 pints of milk from a corner shop doorstep.

Paula Slemp claimed she only realised the snatch had taken place when officers stopped her later in the day and discovered half the £73.51 haul in her VW Golf's boot.

Three of the bottles were found in the fridge of her Troutbeck Drive home - 53 were never recovered.

Abi Nixon, prosecuting, said a Costcutters worker saw the 6.30am drop-off was missing soon after it arrived on Monday, August 27.

"A Golf was pulled over later in Linden Road, and a large quantity of milk was found in the boot," she said. "There were four other occupants in the car.

"Slemp said she had fallen asleep in the car and did not know the milk had been put in the boot."

The 19-year-old Burger King worker claimed she bought the car the night before and was unable to produce driving documents.

She later admitted taking her mum's car without permission on Friday, August 31, before stopping outside a house in Green Lane.

Two occupants climbed out and reappeared minutes later with a large heavy object, which they put in the boot, said Miss Nixon.

"She then allowed them to put it in her garden shed, without the knowledge of her mother."

Slemp admitted handling stolen goods, having no insurance and MOT and driving not in accordance with a licence.

Dale Sheehan, defending, urged Droitwich magistrates to bear in mind her personal circumstances.

The bench gave her a six-month community rehabilitation order.

They also imposed a two-year driving ban and ordered her to pay £8.20 compensation and £100 costs.
