FIFTIES pop idol Marty Wilde is returning to the Lifford Hall in Broadway next week after his sell-out success last year.

His Born to Rock 'n Roll show was so popular twelve months ago that this time he's been booked for two nights, on January 12 and 13.

Lifford Hall entertainments secretary Dave Smith said: "Saturday is already a sell-out and we have sold 100 tickets for Sunday, so fans should book their tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment."

The show is set to loosely follow last year's format, when Marty sang many of his old hits, and paid tribute to the stars of the 1950's who have since passed away.

He showed his great versatility by singing excellent renditions of Elvis, Buddy Holly and Billy Fury hits, and those of many other departed pop giants from both sides of the Atlantic.

Marty, who is in great shape for a 61-year-old, is supported by his fantastic The Wilde Cats, who sing and play solely in the first half of the show.

Marty loves Broadway, and is bringing his former Vernons girl wife to stay at the Broadway Hotel for the weekend.

Mr Smith said: "Marty is a great guy and loves Broadway. Last year he said he was looking forward to bringing his wife to show her around."

Doors open on both nights at 7pm for an 8pm start. Tickets, at £12.50, are available from the village post office on 01386 853377.
