SHOCKED car workers returned to work after Christmas and were told to hit the road.

Staggered staff at Bob Julier Nissan were sacked on the spot as the Kidderminster showroom and filling station shut on December 28.

Eight jobs have been lost with the sudden closure of the Stourport road branch of the car dealership by administrators. End of the road - the Bob Julier Nissan premises which closed after Christmas.

Coventry Motors (Midlands) Ltd, trading as Bob Julier Nissan, went into administration on December 21.

Administrators Adrian Howlett and Mark Orton of Birmingham accountancy company KPMG decided the Kidderminster site was not viable.

However, the Stourbridge HQ, which employs 43 workers, is up for sale as a going concern.

KPMG spokesman Douglas MacBean would not comment on the festive timing and said: "The decision to close two filling stations (one being the Kidderminster site) was made on economic grounds following a review by the administrators.

"The administrators are continuing to trade at the motor dealership and have maintained operations as normal."

He added: "The administrators have confirmed that they have the full support of Nissan and remain hopeful of concluding a sale of the business as a going concern. We have already had some interest."

It is another blow for car workers following the loss of 11 jobs at Stourport motor industry component supplier Dura Automotive earlier last month.
