1801: A new and complete collection of the Most Remarkable Trials for Adultery from the time of Henry VIII to the year 1780 is now available in two volumes, price 16 shillings. Last week, William Yeates stood on the pillory in our Cornmarket at Worcester, pursuant to his sentence at our last Sessions for assaulting and ill-treating Sarah Clarke of Holt.

The Accident Ward of Worcester Infirmary is closed for lack of general support but is to be temporarily opened next Wednesday, though not for its traditional purpose. Mr H. Urwick of our Theatre has very kindly undertaken to get up a dramatic entertainment to be held in the now empty ward. There will be three performances of scenes from "The School for Scandal" and "In Honour Bound," and it is expected 250 people will attend each. To ensure that the pieces are not marred by a vista of millinery, the Infirmary Matron has circularised ladies to remove their hats.

1951: The Worcestershire FA has sent a resolution to the Football Association to the effect that clubs wishing to use a white ball must ensure that they provide a sufficient supply of at least two more white balls to cover the contingency of any ball being kicked out of the ground and lost.

British Rail, Western Region, has immediate vacancies in the Worcester area for Engine Cleaners (age 15-30) for training as locomotive firemen and drivers; Porters for training as shunters, guards, signalmen and checkers; staff to train as signal and telecommunications linesmen; and Permanent Way Labourers and Re-layers. Twelve days annual holiday with pay is offered plus generous travel concessions.

A 1939-45 Memorial Plaque has been officially unveiled in Broadheath Church. More than 80 members of the British Legion were in attendance. Brigadier Charles Britten, President of the Broadheath British Legion, was in charge of the parade and read the lesson. The plaque bears the names of the six local men who died in the war.
