Newly-commissioned 2nd Lieutenant Chris Lane will join his Royal Artillery regiment after Christmas, where he will be put in charge of up to 30 troops.
Chris, 23, has completed a year's officer cadet training at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. He was one of 200 honoured at the Sovereign's passing-out ceremony, attended by the Princess Royal.
To receive the promotion, he had to complete an intensive 42-week course of fitness training, military tactics, exercises and leadership programmes.
