LET us apply a bit of logic to the one-way proposal.
If Knapp Lane is made 'no entry' from the Malvern end, drivers travelling from Ledbury towards Malvern will be able to use it in the usual way, with the added bonus of being able to accelerate up the hill without the risk of meeting oncoming traffic. This will result in an increase in both the volume and speed of uphill traffic, and make the road more, rather than less, noisy.
If the 'no entry' is at the Ledbury end, drivers from Ledbury will use Bank Crescent and Homend Crescent as alternative short cuts, running the risk of collision, at the end of these roads, with traffic travelling downhill from Malvern.
If 'no entry except for access' signs are erected at each end of Knapp Lane, local drivers will simply ignore them, as they do with similar signs at each end of Belle Orchard, without permanently stationed police patrols such signs are unenforcable.
It is surprising that no word on this proposal has yet been heard from Homend Crescent and Bank Crescent residents.
Bank Crescent, in particular, is full of children who could easily end up, if this one way proposal succeeds, as stains on the tarmac.
