TWO women were taken to hospital and another motorist had to be cut free by Herefordshire fire crews after a two-car smash in Leominster.

The Volkswagen Polo and Vauxhall Nova blocked both carriageways of the A49, after they collided on a roundabout in the town.

More than 14 firefighters attended the scene at 2pm yesterday.

It took half-an-hour to free the trapped person who was later treated at Hereford General Hospital.

The women, from Cirencester in Gloucestershire and Powys, Wales, were taken to the Hereford hospital and treated for minor injuries.
