A MOTHER has vowed to keep her daughter away from school amid allegations of "victimisation and bullying".

Susan Woodhouse claims St Anne's Middle School, Bewdley, is ruining her 13-year-old daughter Sandy's education and is prepared to take her case to court, but the school denies the 13-year-old has been unfairly treated.

The mother of four, of Hawthorn Crescent, Bewdley, says she backed the school when her two sons were disciplined for bad behaviour but alleges Sandy has been treated unfairly for three years.

"Some teachers say, 'What mood are you in today Sandy?' It's never 'Good morning.' She's moved around class for no reason and I think she's blamed for her brothers' behaviour."

Mrs Woodhouse, 41, added: "Sandy's not perfect. But she's the captain of the netball team and she's an air cadet. Sandy's never given anyone any real cause to worry about her behaviour.

"Just before the end of term Sandy swore at a girl in school. I was appalled and I sent her to bed when she got home. But the school punished her four times: they isolated her twice for two lessons and didn't allow her to go on the school trip or disco."

Responding to the allegations and to claims that the school have "fobbed off" Mrs Woodhouse's complaints, headteacher David Knight said: "If children don't behave themselves in school time they don't attend events outside school time. Three children didn't attend the school disco and the other parents were very supportive."

He added: "We've been in discussions with Mrs Woodhouse and we expect Sandy back in January."

A Worcestershire County Council spokesman said there was no record of a complaint being lodged with the education department.

But he said: "We take any accusations seriously and we will take an objective view. We're not going to have any child suffer in any way, shape or form."
