EX-Liverpool manager Roy Evans stands in the way of Hereford United's FA Cup giantkilling ambitions when they travel to Second Division Swindon Town for their second round clash tomorrow (3pm).

The Swindon Director of Football, schooled in the famous Anfield Boot Room, will be plotting to scupper caretaker boss Phil Robinson's plans for a second cup upset of the season and third appearance in the third round in five years.

But Robinson is looking forward to pitting his wits against Evans and player/coach, Neil 'Razor' Ruddock, another former Liverpool star, who is also set to feature after returning from suspension.

"From the way Evans comes over in press and media interviews he seems to be a real gentleman and nice fellow and it is going to be interesting to meet him and see how he goes about things," said Robinson.

"He is a manager who likes to encourage football playing teams and he's done that at Swindon."

Hereford are expecting around 2,000 fans to make the journey to Swindon and Robinson believes the Wrexham victory in the previous round has whetted their appetites for yet more cup glory.

"We had a great day against Wrexham and we are hungry to get back involved with the FA Cup," he said.

"It's going to be a really big occasion for the club, players and fans to enjoy and I believe we'll be having a large number of fans travelling with us."

Another £30,000 is on offer to the winners, which would double the amount won by the Bulls in their cup run so far.

But Robinson is well aware that the Robins will pose a very tough test for his side.

He said: "Swindon are mid-table but I think that is a false position because they've got a lot of good players.

"I've watched them and they are a good footballing side so it is going to be difficult for us."

Scott Goodwin and Matt Clarke, who missed the Wrexham match due to suspension, are both available and Robinson said he faced a real selection dilemma as competition for places hotted up.

"Everybody wants to play because nobody wants to miss such a big game and hopefully there will be a full squad to choose from.

"There are a couple of players struggling but hopefully they will recover and give me a selection headache."

Hereford's fortunes in goal did not improve against Barnet, who beat them 2-0 last weekend in the Nationwide Conference, and Robinson believes it is just down to confidence.

"Goalscoring is confidence and none of our strikers are scoring at the moment so theirs is a little bit low.

"You can see from the Wrexham game that we missed a few chances but they will keep doing the hardest to rectify the problem."

The goal against Wrexham, scored by skipper Ian Wright, came from a training ground set-piece and Robinson has been working on some tactics. "We've got a game plan after having them watched a couple of times and if we do it correctly it gives us a chance," he added.

Wright, Scott Voice and Steve Piearce are Hereford's only injury worries.

If tomorrow's game is drawn, the replay will be at Edgar Street on Tuesday, December 18.
