A STRETCH of the M50 motorway will be closed to motorists this weekend, enabling bridge repairs to be carried out.

The Highways Agency is closing the stretch between junctions one and two from 9pm tomorrow to 9am on Sunday.

Five bridges under the motorway need to be repaired and the closure of the stretch will protect the workforce during the relocation of temporary concrete barriers.

Local traffic

There will be a westbound diversion via the M5 southbound to junction 11, then by way of the A40 and A417 west and north to M50 junction two.

The eastbound diversion will be the reverse.

Local traffic will be able to access the A38 at M50 junction 1 in either direction via M5 junction eight.
