A VICTIM wreaked revenge on a bully by rugby tackling him outside Bromsgrove's Euphoria nightclub, Worcester Crown Court heard.

Daniel Pitt had traded insults with Simon Lawther earlier in the evening.

But he brought Mr Lawther to the ground when he found him lying in wait for him outside the club.

Pitt head-butted Mr Lawther three or four times, fracturing his cheekbone, said Lee Marklew, prosecuting.

The 22-year-old, of Lincoln Road, Bromsgrove, was jailed for 21 months after admitting causing grievous bodily harm.

The pair met inside the club on September 22 last year and there was a scuffle after remarks had been passed about a girl.

Mr Lawther was thrown out, but instead of going home, lay in wait for Pitt, said Mr Marklew.

In the fight that followed, Mr Lawther suffered head injuries and spent days in hospital.

His broken cheekbone was repaired with screws and a plate but a nerve still gave him persistent pain, the court heard.

Lawrence Watts, defending, claimed that Mr Lawther had behaved in a ''boorish and loutish'' manner inside the club, making offensive remarks.

Mr Lawther had bullied Pitt since he was 17 and had provoked him before the fight started. Pitt accepted that he had gone too far.

Judge Michael Mott said witnesses made it clear that Pitt was only too pleased to accept the challenge of a fight.

There had been provocation from a man who had behaved badly, he said, but his revenge had led to serious injury.
