THREE sites in Bidford have been identified for CCTV cameras.

District Councillor Daren Pemberton told parish councillors last week that the old Bridge Inn, Colin Harris chemists and the floodlighting pole on the village fire station had been earmarked as possible sites for the cameras, which it is hoped will be installed next year.

He said: "The one on the Bridge Inn would go down as far as the end of the High Street and if people were messing about on the meadow in cars you'd be able to see them."

He said brackets could be put up almost anywhere if there was a need to move the cameras.

Meadow gatekeeper Mark Smith said it would be a good idea to install one by Budgens supermarket as he did not want that end of the High Street to become the "forgotten end" of the village. He added that he hoped the cameras would not be like one put in a tree in the meadow and stolen. Mr Pemberton said they would be likely to be fixed on walls rather than poles or trees.
