TWO winners and three runners-up trophies reflected Evesham's dominance in this year's Worce-stershire Junior Closed Table Tennis Championships.

Youngsters from the Evesham Association provided three of the four semi-finalists in the Cadet Boys event, in which Littleton's Bruce Ford upstaged clubmate Andrew Taylor in a five-set final.

Taylor had earlier overcome Martin Brown in the semi-final, while Alan Chung defeated his fifth seeded opponent before losing out to Brown.

There were three Evesham-based representatives in the Cadet Girls when Eleanor Lasota from the Littleton club lost out in a hard-fought final.

The Blackminster Middle School pupil led 8-6 in the final set and looked set for success before Worcester's Emma William shit back to take the decider.

Stephanie Carver lost out to the eventual winner, also in five sets, in an earlier round when sister Emily also perished.

Lasota also reached the finals in the junior girls singles and doubles events. She won the latter alongside highly ranked Kendall Smith, who defeated the Evesham youngster in the singles final.

There was more for Lasota to smile about when she was chosen to represent Worcestershire Juniors in Division One of the English County Championships at Grantham.

Although only 11 and plying opponents up to 17, the Littleton starlet showed plenty of promise despite a heavy defeat.

Craig Norledge and James Green made good progress in the Junior Boys event but narrowly missed out on places in the later stages.

Norledge lost to Kidderminster's Robert Hatherly, the only player to take eventual winner Tom McDermott to five sets,, while Green failed to make it through his group after two close matches.
