GENEROUS Wyre Forest folk are making a Christmas gift appeal for needy children a soaraway success.

The Christmas Tree Appeal is more than halfway to its target after staff at a Kidderminster nursing home boosted it with more than 50 presents.

The appeal, run by Wyre Forest Business Club and the Shuttle/Times & News, aims to collect 400 gifts for children who would otherwise receive very little this Christmas.

Staff at Coombe House, Kidderminster, and their families and neighbours dipped into their pockets to raise several hundred pounds and then bought and wrapped dozens of presents.

Shoppers can take part in the appeal by visiting the Christmas tree, manned by business club members in the Swan shopping centre in Kidderminster on the next two Saturdays from 10am until 4pm.

The Hansel and Gretel family support group will make sure the gifts are delivered to needy children in time for Christmas.
