HEAVY overnight rain brought the first serious casualties of the Stratford Alliance season but action in the Journal Premier Division was unaffected.

Four matches were postponed but the surfaces at Badsey, Bretforton and Campden were deemed fit and the home sides certainly packed their shooting boots.

The home trio bagged 14 goals between them with Bretforton enhancing their title claims with a 6-1 hammering of lowly FISSC.

Paul Jones was the day's start turn in front of goal with four goals, while Daryl Mitchell grabbed the other two. Richard Foreman replied for the losers.

Section leaders Campden remain level top with Badsey United and a point clear of Bretforton, who have three games in hand. Town inflicted more misery on Henley Forest with Matt Sheridan (2), Tom Helbert and Kevin Reason on target.

Badsey also found the net four times as Ian Jennings grabbed a brace in a crucial 4-1 defeat of neighbours Rangers. Martin Schembri and Kevin Westwood also scored for the winners with Nick Burrows hitting the net for the losers.

Tysoe United continued their recent improvement in Herald Division One with a 5-2 victory at Stratford Spartak. Sean Smith scored twice to add to further strikes from Scott Smith, Ally Eden and Neil Dudfield.

Ilmington consolidated third spot in Cutler Division Two with a 5-0 drubbing of Alcester 2000. There were two goals apiece for Steve Hopkins and Jon Ryan-Gill with Matt Petty completing the nap hand.

Mid-table duo Quinton and Shipston Excelsior squared up in the preliminary round of the Nursing Home Cup when the former excelled with a 4-1 away triumph. The goals came from Ian Sayer, James Bunn, Chris Valentino and Lee Rudden. Mark Schaus scored Shipston's cons-olation.
