THE meeting of the top two in Division Four of the Birdseye Sports Evesham Sunday League didn't produce the anticipated close match as leaders Defford and Besford hit ten past Badsey Rec Res to open up a six-point lead at the top.

Defford's goals came from Alcock (4), Barton (2), Thomas (2), Swinbourne and an own goal with Badsey replying through Hearle, Jordan, McDermott and Stanbra.

Hampton WMC recorded their first league win as a Redding hat-trick and a Prater strike helped overcome Bretforton VIC.

Servicemen's moved into second place with a victory over Ashton Reserves with Malin and Jelfs both netting twice.

Salford Rovers' promotion hopes in Division Three were dented with defeat at Pershore. Rovers led at the interval with two goals from Matt Edwards. The visitors replied through Badger before a Guscott strike and an own goal brought victory for the home side.

Basement club Oddfellows Arms picked up a surprise point at Broadway. The home side scored through Gary and John Hawkins and Jordan with the Oddies replying with goals from Badham, Paul and Sears.

Two goals from Phil Layton helped Honeybourne Gate defeat Swan Sports and goals from Anderson, Giorgio, Fraser and Goulding gave Bidford Bulls the points at Riverside.

Ashton consolidated their top three place in Division Three with a hard-earned win over Peopleton Ashton led with goals from Wilcox (2) and Osman before Attwood and Jones set up a tense finish.

Bottom of the table Ilmington held Offenham. Rangers scored through Vincent with Burrows getting the leveller. Pebworth and Red Horse remain in mid-table after sharing four goals. An own goal and a Morris effort were cancelled out by Stone and Harris.

First division Bretforton VIC fell to their second league defeat of the season, losing at Hospital Club who hit six with goals from Deacon (2), Griffiths (2), Print and Boulton. Leaders Badsey Rec won at Tewkesbury with goals from Bishop, Simms and Spirakowski.

Willersey and Mountinneers have reached the last eight of their respective GFA County Cup competitions.
