TIM Langford celebrated his first match as manager by taking Stourport Swifts through a pulsating FA Trophy second round clash on Saturday.

Swifts sprang a shock by putting out Unibond Premier Division visitors Bishop Auckland 5-4 in quite spectacular fashion.

But they had to survive an amazing 10 minutes of injury time before they could start the celebrations.

Goals from Lee Booth (two), Tim Langford, Matt Southwick and back-in-favour Jamie Hart saw off their battling County Durham opponents.

Bishop Auckland were quarter finalists in the competition just two seasons ago.

A vintage first half display from Swifts, inspired by midfielder Simon Marsh and player-manager Langford up front, swept them into a 4-0 lead at the break.

Leading scorer Booth bagged two excellent goals inside the opening 11 minutes.

Langford and Marsh were involved in the first before Booth pounced on a wayward header from Bishops defender Mark Foster to claim a second with a ferocious volley.

A crunching tackle by Marsh saw the ball break for Langford who prodded home Stourport's third on 27 minutes.

And Southwick netted a fourth with a powerful 25-yard free-kick just before the interval.

But as Swifts sat back on their lead, the visitors stepped up a gear and three goals in eight minutes put them back in contention.

Carl Chillingworth capitalised on sloppy defending for the first on 58 minutes before Anthony Lee drove in a penalty a minute later following a foul on substitute Danny Brunskill by Southwick.

Skipper Mark Salmon forced a shot through a crowded area for a third on 66 minutes.

But substitute Hart, recalled from a loan spell with Midland Combination outfit Pershore Town, calmed the frayed nerves with a breakaway goal eight minutes from time.

Bishops hit back again with Andy Shaw finding the net in injury time moments but the same player was then shown a red card for a high tackle on Adrian Cooper.

Referee Barnes played 10 minutes of injury time but with Jan Mulders and Adam Nicholls outstanding, Swifts held on for the win.
