I WAS sorry to read the letter from Mrs Kathleen White (You Say, November 22) implying a lack of respect for the fallen. It seems there has been some misunderstanding.
Remembrance Sunday is traditionally observed with a service in Worcester Cathedral attended by dignitaries. In the course of the service, the Silence is held at the correct time of 11am. Last Post and Reveille are sounded and wreaths laid in St George's Chapel, the primary war memorial. It is obviously impractical for a ceremony to be held at the war memorial outside simultaneously but anyone not wishing to attend the service may participate in the silence, privately.
Following the service, a short ceremony including another silence is held at the war memorial outside.
JOHN G HINTON,
Worcester.
