Despite the scoreline, Bromsgrove played well with a well integrated team performance.

Bromsgrove Men's Thirds 0

Birmingham University 6

The first half was hard-fought with Bromsgrove facing an organised and physically fit opposition.

The midfield and defence had their work cut out fending off a number of attacks and successfully defended a number of short corners.

After 25 minutes, University finally managed to score from open play.

At half-time, with the score still only 1-0, the Bromsgrove squad were optimistic though significantly fatigued after the rigours of the first 35 minutes.

Unfortunately, Bromsgrove did not manage to find their rhythm in the second half.

The midfield and defence came under significant pressure from a rejuvenated University side who had the luxury of utilising a number of substitutes.

The midfield was over-run with the forwards forced deeper as the game went on. Lack of fitness also saw the marking become more lax.

Three of the six goals could have been prevented if Bromsgrove had remained more focused. The others were good goals from University, which would have proved difficult to stop in any circumstances.

Kevin Bennet missed a golden opportunity, changing his decision at the last moment to flick the ball into the keeper, rather than hammer it home as he usually does.

This was the only time that Bromsgrove looked like scoring. Chris McHague, this week's man of the match, had a very good game at left half, giving his all to the last.

Overall, despite the final scoreline, Bromsgrove are beginning to play well as a unit.

They should not be discouraged at all by this result against a much more experienced side currently top of the table.
