A BROMSGROVE heating equipment company has recently completed a major expansion programme which has seen its premises double in size.

Mikrofill Systems Ltd, on the Buntsford Business Park, has doubled the size of its operation by taking over the adjoining premises.

The extra space, a total of almost 520-square metres, provides additional warehouse storage, enabling the company to cut down on transport logistics and associated costs.

"Bringing our warehousing capacity in-house means we now have greater control over delivery, which in turn adds up to better customer service all round," said operations manager, David Cox.

He said Mikrofill, which manufactures and supplies commercial and industrial heating equipment, was about to make further improvements to its national delivery service with the appointment of a new transport operator.

The company, formed in 1994, is also taking on heating and ventilation engineering apprentices in an attempt to prepare for the specialist servicing needs of the future.

"The industry is rapidly changing and we have to prepare for the specialist servicing needs of the new generation pressurised heating systems," said Mr Cox.

"Manufacturers have an obligation to provide adequate breakdown and maintenance service back-up.

"We are concerned that the lack of trained engineers is constantly pushing up costs to the customer."
