DEVELOPERS looking to build 250 houses on Winyates Green Triangle have been dealt another blow.

Stratford Council's ruling executive has decided the 12-hectare site off Far Moor Lane should be removed from the Local Plan.

The Plan is a blueprint for long-term development within the Stratford district.

On November 16, a meeting of the full council will decide whether the executive's recommendation should now be adopted.

If agreed, it could make it even harder for English Partnerships, which owns the site, to develop it.

Two weeks ago, Redditch Council denied planning permission to build two access roads to the site across its land.

Stratford Councillor Bill McCarthy said if the site was removed from the Local Plan, it was unlikely council officers could recommend such a large-scale development going ahead.

Darren Cutler, of GVA Grimley, agents for English Partnerships, said: "We're thinking through what to do at the moment and the executive decision is likely to have implications."

But Mr Cutler stressed the revised Local Plan would not supersede the current one until sometime next year.

He said as a result, the current Local Plan still carried weight and Winyates Green Triangle was still included for development in that.

"We're a long way off any decision," added Mr Cutler.
