SAFER road crossings are on the way with work due to start on a pelican crossing in Kidderminster on Monday.

The work on Bewdley Hill will include the installation of traffic lights east of Summerhill Avenue, tactile paving, anti-skid surfacing, road markings and signs.

The need for the crossing was identified in a Safer Routes to School project by Harry Cheshire High School and St John's C of E Middle and First School pupils. The £20,000 plan will finish in mid-December.
