WE finally have the chance to lay the ghost of Coventry when we lock horns with Bracknell.

The team has obviously played four games after that defeat but on Sunday, it is our first match at Sixways since that experience.

I must admit it still rankles with me that we went down that day in our own back yard.

It was a devastating day for the team and the supporters and it should be in the forefront of everyone's mind when Worcester run out on to the pitch. We must make sure nothing like that happens again because it was simply unacceptable.

The great thing about sport, though, is that you always have a chance of redemption. That opportunity arrives in front of our own supporters on Sunday. I won't be part of the team again because of my hamstring injury which is a big blow for me because I wanted desperately to play.

I don't think for a minute I would have been an automatic choice, however, because after the way in which the forwards performed in our 50-3 win at Moseley it would be unfair for any of them to drop out of the side.

Nathan Carter - in my position - had a very solid game and deserves another chance at the weekend. I don't think anyone particularly stood out though, all the team were terrific from one to 15.

That obviously makes John Brain's team selection a very interesting one and gives him a few tough decisions to make. Christian Evans did a great job at Bournbrook but when you have Ben Clarke available, it makes life difficult for the coach.

He wouldn't want it any other way and I think he is trying to get the players to take on board the squad system at Worcester and the mentality which comes with that. Everyone at the club will have a role to play if we are to be successful this season and that includes the replacements, the players outside of the match-day 22 as much as the guys on the field. We all want to be part of a winning team but sometimes people simply look at 15 players when they should be considering the role of others.

I am, at present, one of the players outside the first team and although it is frustrating, I know I can contribute off the field. I've actually torn my hamstring slightly so that rules me out for a while. It should be ten days to a fortnight before it heals so, in the meantime, I have to stay positive and keep on backing the rest of the boys.

I was delighted this week to see the fifth round Senior Cup draw and see us paired with Rotherham. It's one I'm really looking forward to because it will be a big game. I realise it won't be the same sort of match that was played in September at Sixways but it may well turn out to be better. It's a cup game and therefore no worries about scoring four tries while it will give us a chance to learn a bit more about them.

It is Bracknell first though and they, no doubt, will provide us with a tough test at the weekend. It is a chance to pay back the home supporters for the Coventry debacle and an opportunity I know the boys won't pass up.
