THE story features two maids, sisters, working for the same "madame".

They like to play-act when madame is out, taking it in turns to play the mistress, ordering the maid about and belittling her.

They appear bitter about madame's treatment of them, feel patronised and kept firmly in their place, but there is also jealousy bordering on hatred.

They arranged to get madame's boyfriend arrested, but on learning of his release, they plot their mistress's demise.

Things don't work out as planned but one of them will finally achieve the limelight she so obviously craves.

This is a difficult play to understand, and I am not at all sure I have interpreted it correctly, but one thing is certain, both sisters are mad, and Solange is completely barking!

The play is a tour de force for Vivienne Cole as Claire and Jo Widdowson as Solange.

They are on stage for virtually the whole 75 minutes (no interval), with incessant dialogue.

Both gave superb performances, never having to be prompted, and keeping the audience riveted.

Rebecca Dicken appeared in the minor role of madame.

A strange play, excellently performed.
