THOSE who made the ultimate sacrifice in warfare will be commemorated throughout Wyre Forest when Remembrance Sunday parades and services are held.

Kidderminster, Stourport and Bewdley will all stage events to honour the dead of the two world wars and other conflicts.

The Kidderminster parade assembles in the New Road car park at 10.15am, moving off at 10.30am.

Its route is: New Road, Bridge Street, Oxford Street, Vicar Street, Bull Ring, Lower Mill Street, Ringway, before returning in reverse order and dismissing in New Road car park.

A service at the town War Memorial at 10.55am is followed by a short service in St Mary and All Saints Church.

In Stourport, the parade will muster in the Royal British Legion car park at 10.15am, setting off for the War Memorial at 10.35am.

Wreath laying will be followed by two minutes' silence at 11am. The parade will be dismissed to St Wulstan's RC Church for a service beginning at 11.15am, mustering and reforming in Vale Road car park after the service.

It marches via Vale Road, High Street, York Street and Lichfield Street to the RBL Club at 12noon.

The parade will perform "Eyes Right" at both the War Memorial and the saluting base in High Street.

Following speeches, the parade will dismiss at 12.20pm.

Bewdley's service takes place at St Anne's Church at 11am. The parade starts from Bridge House car park, Riverside North, led by Bewdley Scout and Guide Band.

Parade participants assemble by 10.30am and will be ready for wreath laying at the War Memorial by 10.50am, after which they proceed to the church.

At the end of the church service, the band will lead the parade past the Guildhall, where the mayor will take the salute, and on to Riverside North, where the parade will be dismissed.

During the afternoon, there will be another wreath laying service, at All Saints Church, Wribbenhall, at 4.15pm, followed by an evening service, at 4.30pm. the mayor and councillors will attend.

In Wolverley a parade will assemble at the memorial hall at 10.20am followed by a morning service at St John The Baptist Church at 10.45am.

In Cookley the parade will assemble in the village at 6.15pm followed by a service at St Peters Church at 6.30pm.

Meanwhile, it is an important day for the Polish community in Wyre Forest on Sunday.

November 11 marks Polish Independence Day when the partition of Poland by Russia, Germany and Austria ended in 1918.

A mass will be held at the Polish Catholic church, Pitt Street, at 10am.

In the afternoon there will be a celebration of Polish poetry and song at the Polish Club, St George's Terrace.

Polish consul for the West Midlands Mike Oborski said: "While we will remember those who died in wars, and Poland suffered great losses in the First World War, Sunday also marks the rebirth of the Polish nation."
