Littleton 5,

Coleshill Town Res 0

UNBEATEN Littleton continued their good start to the season with a convincing 5-0 victory to record their eighth win in 11 Midland Combin-ation Division Three outings.

For the first 15 minutes the game was even, with both sides content to build attacks slowly from the back.

The first real goalbound effort came on 15 minutes when Steve Pitcher hit a powerful free-kick from 20 yards which Darren Brady, the Coleshill keeper, beat out.

Five minutes later Pitcher, again with a free kick from all of 40 yards, brought out a fine diving save.

Pressure from Littleton continued to build and it came as no surprise when they took the lead on 28 minutes through leading goalscorer Des Cox.

A fine through ball by Mark Gledhill saw Cox outpace the defenders to calmly shoot past the advancing keeper.

Littleton kept pressing and the second goal wasn't long in coming. A cross from Matthew Edwards was met by a firm downward header from Billy Hiden.

At the start of the second half Coleshill attacked strongly and brought two good saves out of Ian Hunt. Firstly, he dived to his left to push a goalbound shot round the post, then he tipped over a powerful shot from Christian Crisp.

However, Littleton were soon back on the attack and went three up on the hour. Again it was Cox, who beat two defenders before slotting past the keeper.

Two minutes later he completed his hat-trick with a carbon copy goal.

With the result no longer in doubt the game meandered to the finish, the only other goal coming via an own goal following a cross from Philip Haines.

The game was sponsored by Willersey Provisions.

Littleton are away to Knowle Res on Saturday and have been given a home tie against Droitwich Sports in the quarter-finals of the WFA Junior Cup on November 24.
