PEOPLE living on a busy Worcester street who want a business trading without planning permission to be moved say they are tired of waiting for action to be taken.

Residents on Droitwich Road want to see Pots Direct moved on by the city council because of the trouble they claim is caused by traffic driving to the site and the big yellow signs the business uses.

They are also angry because Pots Direct is operating without planning permission on Green Belt land.

"Why has nothing been done and why is Pots Direct still there?" said Alex Kear, who lives opposite. "We've been waiting for a long time now."

In May, the council issued two enforcement notices because the business is operating without planning permission in a Green Belt area.

One notice called for Pots Direct to stop selling pots, and the second called for it to remove hard standings and all the paraphernalia to do with retail.

However, an appeal was lodged, and a viewing will have to be made by an inspector from the Government planning inspectorate before action can be taken.

Although the inspector cannot grant planning permission, he can decide how long Pots Direct has before it has to stop trading and what action it will have to take.

"We've no idea when the report will come because it's entirely the inspector's process," said Peter Yates, principal planning officer for Worcester City Council.

"We have no control over them, it's entirely their decision."

Mr Yates said the city council would be writing a letter to the planning inspectorate urging them to carry out the inspection as soon as possible.

Until the inspector makes a decision Pots Direct can continue trading because it is not doing anything illegal.

No one from Pots Direct could be contacted for a comment.
