POWICK took the lead in the third minute in this WFA Sunday Minor Cup when Paul Atkins latched on to a Lee Richardson cross to send the ball into the back of the net.

COLWALL ST JAMES 3, POWICK 4

They continued to play some good football after this and in the 25th minute Richard Bird blasted the ball past the Colwall keeper again after some excellent play by Lee Richardson wide on the right to give Powick a 2-0 lead.

They continued to look the better side but three minutes before half time a mix up in defence allowed Colwall in to pull a goal back.

The second half was a more closely matched game and both keepers were kept busy by good efforts from both sides - the best being from Colwall bringing a magnificent save from Ben Chamberlain to push the ball round the post.

In the 75th minute Colwall were rewarded for their efforts with a superb strike from 20 yards out which gave the keeper no chance.

After 90 minutes were up the score was 2-2 so extra time was necessary.

Powick lifted their game from the restart and in the seventh minute went ahead when Paul O'Brian got his name on the score sheet after some good play by Gary Henderson.

In the 18th minute they increased the lead with the best goal of the match, James Baker received the pass from Nick Price and hit a scorcher on the half volley, which rocketed into the back of the net from 30 yards out.

Colwall continued to fight back and with two minutes remaining reduced the deficit after a fine solo effort by Guy Lock but Powick took the honours 4-3.

Man of the Match was James Baker.
