WHILE Vale track stars, Pete Jennings and Simon Andrews were completing their seasons in the British Championship events at Donington Park, Mark Tyrrell competed at Cadwell Park's International Circuit two-day meeting.

Jennings, riding his Knott's Motor Cycles Honda in the British 125 Championship suffered further misery in a sorrowful summer despite again qualifying well.

He was well placed in is attempt to end the campaign on a high note when he was again sent spinning off the track.

Andrews, meanwhile, has again benefited from a busy season in the British Supersports Series in which he finished in a respectable overall 14th place despite being unable to score in six of the 13 meetings.

The Wickhamford teenager raced more than two seconds faster than ever before on his Unilock Construction Honda at the Midlands circuit, completing the race in tenth place after qualifying three places further down the grid.

For the experienced Tyrrell, it was a first race at Cadwell for 11 years and he achieved top ten placings in the first day's New Era Club event as he set up the Norton Rotary Engineering Ltd Honda RS 250RR and the Chapman Tyrrell Honda RS125.

Sunday's racing, though, was blighted by thick fog and a shortened course was used which benefited smaller racing bikes.

In the opening 250cc race, Tyrrell was brought down and suffered slight damage to his machine before climbing on to his 125 to earn second place in the ACU Race.

Tyrrell was looking good for a repeat in the final 125 event but he was relegated to fourth after a neck and neck tussle on the line.

Tyrrell is back in action on Sunday when he debuts on the 2001 Honda RS 125 in Mallory Park's New Era Club Races.
