TEN members of the Per-shore Golf Society emba-rked upon the first ever sporting twinning trip to Bad Neustadt.

Club professional, York-shireman Ian Dibbs, made the party welcome, the course was played and enjoyed.

A formal welcome was given by the Mayor of Bad Neustadt, Bruno Altrichter, twinning councillor Peter Zoll and helpful contact Hienz Schicks, who over the next few days was to become a close friend of the Pershore golfers.

Two days of competitive golf then took place at the Golf Club Maria Bildhausen, where professional, Scot Alan Hogg, and his staff worked tirelessly to adjudicate and ensure all ran smoothly.

The first day was a singles stableford competition best eight from ten to score and the second day a doubles Greensome stableford best four pairs from five to score. Would win a trophy brought by the Pershore golfers, donated by Juan Mendez, proprietor of The Angel Inn, Pershore.

After the first day the Ger-man opponents had a 15-point lead and, after the second day of competition, the Pershore golfers with a little home help competed well but the first day deficit was too much to claw back in a six-points reverse.

Trip organiser, John Nutman presented the club president, Herr Zacher with a Royal Worcester bowl, while the Angel Cup was presented to the German team captain.

Alan Hogg, surprisingly, presented a trophy to be named GCMB Kloster Cup 2001 which will be awarded to the runner-up of this annual event.
