TWO men involved in a feud over a girl twice ended up brawling in a Stourport street, Worcester Crown Court heard.

Ian Lancett had been going out with her but her ex-boyfriend, Gary Whitmore, was jealous and there was tension between the men, said William Rickarby, prosecuting.

It boiled over in June last year after they had been watching TV football at The Outback nightclub in Lombard Street. In the scuffle that followed, Mr Whitmore was punched and kicked.

Five months later, the pair met again at the club and this time Lancett's brother Mark joined in the attack on Mr Whitmore.

Ian Lancett, 29, of Prospect Road, Stourport, who pleaded guilty to two charges of affray, and also breaching a conditional discharge imposed by Halesowen magistrates for threatening behaviour, was jailed for eight months.

Mark Lancett, 27, of the same address, was ordered to do 80 hours community work after admitting one charge of affray.

Miss Carol Knotts, for Ian Lancett, said he knew what it was like to be a victim. He had been stabbed six times in a previous incident and had lost the use of part of his right hand.

The father-of-three had also been the victim of threatening letters and this was being investigated by police.

Miss Mary Loram, for Mark Lancett, said he had reacted to extreme provocation when he had seen his brother being attacked.
