THE AGM took place on October 11 at the Peace Hall and was attended by a good number of members, including some new ones.

Various officers gave reports on the previous year's activities and there ensued a lively and constructive discussion on a number of topics.

These included the structure of the programme, the organisation of the two main shows, support for the place of the society in the life of the village, attracting new members and the increased demands on the society's purse.

The meeting went on to thank Ann Ayres and Celia Hitch for the onerous work of compiling the new programme, starting in January.

Jeffry Griffiths was appointed vice-chairman.

Appreciation was extended to the committee for their hard work to ensure the smooth running of the society.

After business, members socialised over wine and cheese.

The next meeting, the last of the season, will be on Thursday, November 8, at 8pm when Elaine Horton will give an illustrated talk on Hardy Plants for all Seasons.
