THE number of reported racial attacks and abuse in Redditch has fallen by nearly 50 per cent since July, writes Becky Procter.
The news was announced at a town centre partnership meeting last week when police gave an update on the feelings of Muslims in Redditch following the USA terror attacks.
On average, a racial incident was reported to police every day during June, when there were 28, and July, when there were 30.
Pc Robin White, of Redditch police, said: "In August, we had 22 reported incidents and in September 17, which is the lowest it has been for a long time."
He added: "In respect of the September 11 attacks, we have nothing to report in the way of racial tension abuse or attacks on the local Muslim community."
