REDS boss Nicky Cross is tracking Solihull striker Peter Sutton and had a close look at the forward in Saturday's 1-1 draw.

Sutton has been in limbo at Damson Park for much of the season as Dave Busst turned to Derek Hall and Chris Smith as his first choice pairing.

But with other clubs rumoured to be interested in the Borough hitman and Smith suffering a dip in form, Sutton has been recalled to the first eleven.

Cross has not ruled out a move for Solihull and is free to talk to him after making a seven day approach.

Cross is on the hunt for another striker because another Borough old boy, Joey Dowling, still has work commitments which disrupt his availability for training and matches.

Leading scorer Paul Danks continued his hot form with a first half penalty as high-fliers Solihull, who started the day second, were held at the weekend.

The Reds hitman took his tally to 14 this season and was tonight training his sights on third placed Chippenham.

Defender Paul West was again set to miss the away day (ko 7.45pm) after a recurrence of knee and ankle injuries.

But the former Evesham stopper was the only absentee thanks in part to the manager's decision to rest half a dozen regulars for the Birmingham Senior Cup exit at Rushall.

There is no let up in tough fixtures for United who entertain second placed Clevedon on Saturday (ko 3pm).
