RAMPANT Chequers surged to a superb league victory at Riverside Rangers and could have scored even more.
Top scorer Simon Morris led the way with a double strike but there was also a spectacular first for the club by recent signing Melvin Hawkes, who switched to midfield.
Chequers missed plenty of other chances against their Redditch opponents as they bounced back brilliantly from the previous week's disappointing defeat to Freemasons.
They were helped by the return of Sam Tustain from university and he filled in at right-back.
Chequers started strongly with prolific midfielder Morris firing them ahead from an Ian Fleming assist.
Oliver Thomas added a second, heading home Hawkes' cross, before Morris put them further ahead with an angled finish.
Although Riverside pulled one back before half-time through John Rose, Chequers showed no sign of letting up in the second half. Defender Damian Sherrard fired in a penalty awarded for handball and Hawkes bagged his strike with a great solo run from his own half.
Mike Dale, who might have scored a hat-trick on another day, rounded off the scoring after beating Riverside's offside trap.
Midfield man Fleming, back after being unavailable the previous week, won the man of the match award as Chequers cruised to a comfortable success.
