KIDDERMINSTER Harriers finally got their goalscoring act together last night when they registered their best ever Nationwide League Division Three victory with a 4-1 demolition of York City at Aggborough.

Striker Drewe Broughton led the way with a brace with one apiece for Abdou Sall and Ian Foster.

Their welcome goals, however, were watched by Harriers lowest Football League gate -- 2,002.

The result delighted Kidderminster's assistant boss Gary Barnett, who said: "It was all very positive stuff and it's full credit to the players. They knew, as well as the gaffer and myself, that it was a very important game for us.

"We played some terrific stuff and the boys' confidence certainly rose during the first 45 minutes. Whether they could produce it again in the second 45 was a question and they responded terrifically.

"It was a different formation with a couple of quick forwards that linked very well with Broughton and it paid off for us. It was a tremendous attacking display."

Harriers, with just three goals in their previous ten outings, completely dominated the game and it was remarkable that they had not sewn up the points by half time.

Instead, they were deadlocked at 1-1 after taking a 13th minute lead through Broughton, whose first strike of the season ended his side's miserable sequence of 410 minutes without a home goal.

Before and after the breakthrough Harriers were denied by splendid saves by keeper Alan Fettis and goalline clearances by Chris Smith and Neville Stamp.

Then, on the stroke of half time, The Minstermen stunned Jan Molby's men by equalising with a powerful shot from Lee Nogan.

Any thoughts York may have had of releasing Kidderminster's stranglehold, however, were shattered in the space of a minute shortly after interval.

Firstly, Sall marked his Football League debut by heading past Fettis in the 49th minute and then Foster curled in his first goal of the season.

Michael Proctor was thwarted with a volley which was pushed onto the bar by Harriers keeper Stuart Brock on the hour before Broughton completed the rout on 63 minutes.

Harriers made three substitutions in the 78th minute, including teenage striker Matt Lewis whose first taste of Football League action involved an effort which hit the top of the bar.

Harriers: Brock 7, Clarkson 7, Hinton 7, Sall 8, Stamps 7, Blake 7, Williams 7 (Shilton, 78), Bennett 7, Larkin 7 (Hadley , 78), Broughton 9, Foster 7 (Lewis 78). Subs (not used): Murphy, Bird.
