Unicorn Hill is, beyond all comparison, the worst bit of road in the district from a cyclist's point of view.

Not a single good thing can be said about it.

Its surface is very bad as a rule, it is in places steep and if there is a little moisture about it is very treacherous and 'skiddy'; it has several nasty openings into it, it turns at the bottom, is always crowded with vehicles and dogs and youngsters at play and for a long time has been littered with a choice and nicely varied collection of used needles, crochet hooks, toilet pins and fishhooks.

Now the road is open all across the bottom for the laying of drain pipes.

It is one of the most dangerous hills I know of to ride down at any speed and I think I have ridden up and down pretty well every hill in Redditch and within a radius of 20 miles.

I have seen and had so many close shaves on that hill, seen many narrow escapes from serious accidents, that my nerves are all shaken up and my once golden locks are turning grey.
