3/7/01 WINGER Sam Shilton has signed a two-year deal at Kidderminster Harriers on his release from Hartlepool United.

Birmingham-based Shilton, the 22-year-old son of England goalkeeping legend Peter, turned down the advances of Second Division Northampton Town.

He was at Aggborough today to sign the contract which went some way to make up for the disappointment of defender Steve Jones' U-turn yesterday.

Shilton is looking forward to playing on the left wing alongside Scott Stamps next season but he can also fill a more defensive role.

He played as a wing-back for Hartlepool where he made 63 appearances and scored eight goals over two seasons after previously turning out for Plymouth Argyle (four games) and Coventry City (eight games).

Harriers boss Jan Molby has made it signing number two after the addition of Wrexham's Danny Williams.

Pictures and an interview with Shilton will be in the Shuttle/Times & News on Thursday.
