NEWTOWN SPORTS 4, LITTLETONS 3

NEWTOWN started this Mercian Elgar U15s Junior League game at a fast and furious pace and found themselves 3-0 up after only 12 minutes with goals from Edd Gallagher, Will Clee and Ben Pearson.

Littleton replied on 15 minutes but the rest of the half was dominated by Newtown who scored again through Adam Curtis.

The second half found Littletons come more into the game and scored in the 55th minute before Newtown keeper Andy Cullen made three outstanding saves. Littletons scored with two minutes remaining making the score 4-3.

Newtown's next match is at home against Warndon Youth. Players meet Lower Howsell 2pm.

WORCESTER JUNIORS 1, WELLAND JUNIORS 3

WELLAND travelled to Worcester for this Mercian Elgar U14s League fixture and came away with a victory, all the goals coming in the first 30 minutes for Welland, two goals for Tim Streather and one for Nick Baker.

There were also good displays from Dave Stockton, Alex Johnson and James Griffiths.

In the second half Worcester came into the game and deservedly pulled a goal back but good defending and hard work from all of the team was enough for victory.

MALVERN TOWN WANDERERS 5, WELLAND JUNIORS 0

MALVERN Town Wanderers' first midweek fixture in the Mercian Elgar U13s League saw them welcome Welland to Sling Lane.

With Wanderers dominating the opening stages they could not break down a resolute Welland defence. With half time beckoning the home side were soon two goals to the good within a minute. The first by Stephen Poole finishing clinically at the near post following a fine cross from Shaun Carrey. Michael Pearson making it two with typical left foot effort from eight yards out.

Kicking uphill after the interval the home side were now in complete control and Gareth Atkinson steered home a loose ball from close range to make it three after ten minutes. Stephen Poole grabbed his second and the score was completed minutes later as Luke Arnold made no mistake from close range.

BREDON COLTS JUNIORS 0,

MALVERN TOWN WANDERERS 7

MALVERN Town Wanderers visited a little known about Bredon Colts for this Mercian Elgar U13s Junior League fixture.

After a tentative start the visitors started to find their rhythm and after 18 minutes the pressure was rewarded with Rob Leccese deceiving the home keeper at the far post. In the closing minutes of the first period it was two as Michael Dicapita scored from close range.

Immediately from the restart a fine through ball from Matt Bayer found Michael Dicapita running through and he scored his second from eight yards out. The onslaught was now on as Matt Bayer fired home a direct free kick in typical style. Michael Dicapita completed a fine hat-trick slotting past the oncoming keeper. Luke Arnold making it six driving home a right foot shot. Tom Chadney completed the scoring reacting first to capitalise on the keeper's parry out.

NEWTOWN SPORTS BOYS 14, INKBERROW EAGLES 0

NEWTOWN Sports Boys played their first Mercian Elgar U13s League home game of the season which proved to be one-sided.

Newtown's goals included hat-tricks from Lee Jenkins, also new signing Kris Denslow and a double hat-trick from David Reynolds.

Two of the first half goals were of the highest of standards. One from Kris Denslow turning the defender then thrashing the ball high into the net, the other provided by Kris Denslow and neatly slotted home by David Reynolds.

Newtown made three changes in the second half and Lee Jenkins came on to complete a brilliant hat-trick in 17 minutes. John Davies also scored in the second half as well as Tom Ferguson.

MALVERN TOWN WANDERERS 11,

WORCESTER JUNIORS 0

AN excellent team performance from Malvern Town Wanderers in this Mercian Elgar U12s League match.

The first goal came from an excellent cross by Luke Borton on the right which was headed home in fine style by James Lush. Further goals came from Chris Bowen and Paul Jordan.

With the second half came the introduction of Wanderers' substitutes Luke Butler, who dazzled the defence on the right wing, Danny Stimson and Jack Higgs in the centre of attack. Ted Grizzell commanded the midfield with Max White and Marc Heptinstall. Juniors could not get out of their own half. Goalie Lewis Hooper was a solitary figure but he kept a clean pair of gloves! Ryan Mansbridge began to play really well and put away four excellent goals while Calum Campbell with a long solo run and delicate finish got the goal of the match.

NEWTOWN SPORTS COLTS 4

NEWTOWN Juniors entertained Newtown Colts in their first Mercian Elgar Under 11s Junior League match of the season.

Juniors started brightly enough putting pressure on the Colts defence and opened the scoring after ten minutes following a strong run down the left by Craig Preece who crossed the ball for Josh Butler to stab home. From this moment on though the Colts got their passing game together and equalised when Juniors' defence failed to clear the ball. Tom Hale struck a well placed shot into the corner. Colts grabbed a second soon after and just before half time finished off a fine move for the third. They interchanged passes down the left and crossed the ball into the box for it to be knocked down to Louis Jones who turned and fired home the ball on the half volley.

The second half continued with the Colts playing some enterprising football and they sealed the game when Louis Jones stabbed home a loose ball to make it 4-1. Juniors Man of the Match: Craig Preece.

NEWTOWN SPORTS BOYS 3, MCL CLAINES JUNIORS 1

NEWTOWN played hosts to MCL Claines in the first game of the Mercian Elgar Under 11s Junior League.

Claines made the better start with a goal in the first few minutes Newtown soon got into their rhythm and Lee Mason hit the equaliser midway through the first half with a low drive from outside the area.

In the second half Newtown were in full flow and their second goal came after Ollie Lean ran onto a through ball only to be brought down by the keeper. Marc Twinberrow converting the penalty. Claines fought back well and forced a penalty but keeper Stuart Johnson made a great save. Defender James Scullion played well on his debut in the heart of defence and started the move for the last goal playing the ball out to Lee Mason who made a great pass for Ollie Lean to run onto and fire the ball home.

MALVERN TOWN WANDERERS COLTS 4, DROITWICH SPA COBRAS 1

LOTS of early pressure from Wanderers in this opening Mercian Elgar Under 10s Junior League match finally paid off and after good work from Jordan Richards the ball broke to Max Whittle and he fired home from eight yards.

Droitwich kicking down the slope in the second half had the better of the opening exchanges and a long ball downfield from Droitwich found their number nine who scored from close range. Almost immediately Wanderers responded and some excellent passing put Alex Scullion through to score. Two minutes later an individual goal from half way by Alex Scullion made the game safe for the home side. Wanderers now well on top Kurt Teale shot home after a rebound to make the score a well deserved 4-1 to the Colts.

LYPPARD RANGERS COLTS 0, MALVERN TOWN WANDERERS 7

MALVERN Town Wanderers opened their Mercian Elgar Under 10's Junior League season with a comprehensive victory over Lyppard Rangers Colts.

Josh Asquith opened the scoring when he converted a cross from Jack Bottomley from close range. Josh Asquith scored again this time from some distance before Alex Wren made it 3-0 to the visitors.

Alex Wren then turned provider to set up the next goal headed into the back of the net by Douglas Howie. Jack Bottomley marked his debut with a well taken goal just before the interval. Throughout the match Natalie Chadney, Josh Ball and Bobs Mackichan limited the home team's scoring opportunities with resolute defending whilst keeper Ben Wheeler dominated his box and remained alert.

In the second half Malvern's Douglas Howie was on target before Alex Wren scored their seventh goal after Lyppard keeper had parried a shot from Adam Mayo.

MALVERN TOWN WANDERERS 4, WORCESTER RANGERS 1

THE first match of the Mercian Elgar U9 League season produced an impressive victory for Malvern Town Wanderers.

Wanderers started brightly and took the lead when Jordan Johnson fired in from distance. Wanderers continued to push forward and scored again when Harry Gregory calmly slotted the ball home. It wasn't long before Wanderers were three up as Harry Gregory smashed a brilliant free kick into the roof of the net.

The second half had only just began when Wanderers were caught out at the back and Rangers scored.

Wanderers fears of a Rangers fightback disappeared when Jordan Johnson sealed the win by scoring an amazing goal directly from a corner kick.

Wanderers man of the match was Jack Probert.

LYPPARD RANGERS 0, NEWTOWN SPORTS 1

NEWTOWN Sports played their first ever competitive Mercian Elgar Under 9's Junior League fixture and returned from Lyppard Rangers with all of the points.

The only goal of the game coming when a poor clearance from Lyppard fell to the feet of Joe Mallett; the Newtown winger wasted no time in chipping the ball over the stranded goalkeeper.
