AFTER last week's poor start to the season Express rang the changes with Rich Clack, Steve Hill and Alan Preece all returning to the starting line up and things looking more solid from the off.

EXPRESS 88 3, BIRDPORT 0

A tight first half saw few chances going to either side due to two good defences, Barry Evans holding things tight at the back for the Express before Steve Hill eventually opened the scoring ten minutes before half time, finding the net after a goalmouth scramble.

Playing down the slope and with the wind at their backs in the second half Express began to dominate the game and play the football they are capable of, Mark Taylor breaking free on the hour to calmly increase the lead to two.

Substitutes Si Richardson, Nick Dauncey and Dutch came into the fray as Express continued building in confidence and pushing forward. Another goalmouth scramble led to a Birdport defender handling on his line and Mark Taylor converting the resulting penalty to take his tally to four goals in two games and secure him the Express' man of the match vote.

A welcomed win for the Express in a game superbly refereed by Paul Fowler.

Many thanks to Ann and Gerry at The Express for their after match hospitality for both teams.

This Sunday Express are away to Colwall St James, players meet 9.30am at the Express Inn.
