A NINE goal thriller was to decide this very fast and free flowing Infirmary Cup first round match between Fromes Hill who play in the Malvern League and Keyz RM who play in Division Three of the Worcester League.

FROMES HILL 4, KEYZ RM 5

Keyz turned up at Fromes Hill with only 12 players having nine players out through injuries, holidays and work commitments. With two of the 12 available suffering with flu and striker Chris Golding having to leave the field of play after 60 minutes on the clock, things were not looking very rosy. The only plus for Keyz was that Fromes Hill could only field the starting 11.

Skipper Tim Clarke won the toss and decided to kick up hill first half and Keyz started with a goal through Chris Golding with only one minute on the clock.

Four minutes later Golding netted his second and Keyz were in full control. On 20 minutes Keyz were awarded a free kick on the edge of the penalty box, Lee Hooper placed the ball and the end result saw Tim Clarke head home Keyz's third goal.

With all the game being played in only one half of the field it was only a matter of time before Chris Golding would get his hat-trick.

Thirty-five minutes gone and the job was done, 4-0 to Keyz. Five minutes to go before half time Keyz defender Karl Ford twisted his knee and this forced Keyz to play their only substitute, Martin Smith. Fromes suddenly found their form and grabbed a goal back on 43 minutes making the score at half time 4-1.

The second half started with most of the play in midfield and neither team making much progress towards altering the scoreline.

With 60 minutes Keyz were reduced to ten men when Chris Golding had to leave the field of play due to other commitments. This inspired Fromes Hill and on 65 minutes they made the score 4-2.

For the next 17 minutes Keyz defended in numbers forcing Fromes Hill to shoot from distance but on 82 minutes Fromes Hill made the score 4-3 and on 83 minutes levelled the score at 4-4.

With time running out Keyz attacked in numbers with some excellent football skipper Tim Clarke scored the best and winning goal of the match, a 20 yard shot into the roof of the net leaving the goalkeeper no chance.

Keyz RM are at home to Perdiswell this Sunday (September 23).
