MALVERN Rangers were given the necessary encouragement before this Express & Star West Midland League Division One South game and started the game with a very positive attitude.

MALVERN RANGERS 6, CHADDESLEY CORBETT 1

Straight from the kick off this was epitomised by Rob Perrins hitting the top of the crossbar. Within the opening two minutes Rangers took the lead. A bad goal kick saw Stuart Harvey gain possession down the left and when the cross came into the box Rob Perrins was again denied by the woodwork, striking the post, but Marc Lines responded quickest to fire Rangers into the lead.

This lead was doubled just five minutes later, Marc Kitchener was fouled on the right and when skipper Steve Hodges whipped in a wicked cross Mark Owen scored with a brave diving header on the edge of the six yard box.

At this stage Rangers were really enjoying themselves against a young Chaddesley side and on 12 minutes Marc Lines did extremely well to get a good cross in and Stuart Harvey fired just wide of the far post.

After 24 minutes Mark Owen lobbed over the crossbar but not to be denied just three minutes afterwards Rangers did increase their advantage. Steve Hodges played a high ball through to Stuart Harvey whose far post cross provided Rob Perrins with a simple tap in.

On the half hour Rangers were 4-0 ahead when Marc Lines' low hard cross into the box enabled Rob Perrins to capitalise and score.

On 36 minutes keeper Carl Preece was called into action almost for the first time when from a left wing corner he did well to tip the ball over the bar.

Within two minutes of the resumption of the second half, a rush of blood to the head by keeper Carl Preece saw him unnecessarily on the edge of the box where a number of his own players were, and he needlessly gave away a penalty which was confidently dispatched to make the score line 4-1.

Rangers never regained the same degree of superiority during the second half but after 15 minutes a Rob Perrins penalty enabled him to complete his hat-trick and the scoring was completed six minutes before the end with a well taken goal from Stuart Harvey, much to his delight.

This comfortable victory was Rangers' first league win of the season against a Chaddesley side who had only conceded eight goals in their previous four league fixtures.

Man of the Match: Rob Perrins.
